from the life of Sam Kader

Moments

Sam Kader was vibrant and talented young man who lived to inspire others, yet tragically he did not reach his full potential before he passed at the young age of 30 from MRSA. In late August of 2009, Sam Kader received medical treatment for a minor back injury at a New Jersey hospital. While undergoing treatment he contracted MRSA, an antibiotic-resistant infection which is commonly contracted in hospitals. Although the source of the infection cannot be confirmed, Sam Kader passed away two and a half weeks after he contracted MRSA.

Sam lived an extraordinarily full life, and as the son of a United Nations (UN) Diplomat he lived all over the world. His passion for life, seen with his love of racing and sports, translated into his humanitarian and peacekeeping work. Sam was passionately committed to the betterment of humanity and devoted his time volunteering in UN Peacekeeping and Humanitarian efforts throughout his life.

Salwa Kader, his mother, President of the IFPSD (International Federation for Peace and Sustainable Development) and permanent member of the UN, works tirelessly to save lives and promote peace around the world. Due to the lack of treatment for MRSA, she could not save the one life that mattered to her most: her son’s. Today, she devotes her time and energy towards public education, advocacy, and international action to inspire new research, create crucial legislation, and encourage the scientific community to join forces to combat MRSA.

The Sam Kader Memorial Fund stands in tribute to Sam Kader to improve international action on global health issues so that others may be spared the momentous loss the Kader family has borne.
